We are Popsie Theatre, a queer, female, international group of artists. Rute is a Portuguese-born, London-based director, performer and writer. She has a strong movement-based practice, having trained in dance, viewpoints and with Odin Teatret. She has directed at Omnibus Theatre, Criterion Theatre and VAULT Festival. Her experiences as a migrant and activist are inseparable from her practice. Talia is a performer, deviser, and comedian from the USA and trained in Germany. She has performed at CPT, Lion and Unicorn, the Yard, and Jermyn Street Theatre and was a part of the Soho Theatre’s stand-up comedy lab. Tilney is a theatre and film maker from the USA. She trained at Lecoq after working in film, and is now completing a PhD. We met during our masters programmes at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and have been making work together since 2020. We frequently collaborate with composer/musician Arthur Robijns and designer Kerri Woods. Our first show, Not a Girl Not Yet a Woman, made its work-in-progress debut at CPT’s SPRINT Festival 2021, and has been performed at CPT (Autumn 2022) and Blue Elephant (Spring 2023). We make work that is politically-minded, yet personal, based in comedy, physical theatre, and pop culture. Our collective practice draws from a variety of cultures, artforms, and pedagogies, including Odin Teatret where we have recently trained as a company. We embrace strangeness, the risky, the absurd, and the universality of being foreign.

You’re invited to enter a liminal space between girlhood and womanhood, and watch as we tear apart Britney’s conservatorship, victim-blaming and female autonomy - all while drunk on early-2000s MTV nostalgia.
