    Joanna Holden is a renowned performer with over 25 years experience as actor, director and clown. A long time collaborator with Told By An Idiot and John Wright she has also worked with Directors such as Roxana Silbert, Stephen Daldry, Cal McCrystal and Angela De Castro.

    OftheJackel led by Artistic Director Jack Kelly, make visual theatre shows for audiences of all ages.
    ​We specialise in making work for hearing and D/deaf audiences.
    ​Our shows are physical, playful, and deeply accessible.
    OftheJackel makes work for first-time theatregoers and life-long fans alike. We are inclusive. We are committed to taking our work outside of traditional touring venues. We seek to reflect our audiences’ lives in our work.

    The Uncomfortable Parallels Between Society’s Treatment of Ageing Women and Mythical Monsters

     Ever noticed the similarities between ageing women and monsters?  Wait. Hang on a sec.  No one is saying that ageing women are like monsters.  Just something controversial to get your attention.  It’s an old trick.  It’s not that women become monsters but the way society treats them as they age bares an uncomfortable resemblance to the way mythical monsters are dealt with.  Ok so not so many pitch forks and flaming torches these days I grant you but maligned, marginalised, hidden away, denied a voice.  Do you see?  No?  Read on.  Joanna Holden and Jack Kelly, creators of brand new show Countess Dracula, give you a brief rundown of the very first woman to be marginalised in the Judeo-Christian canon.
