Luis Amália is an actress, artist, maker, architect and cinema freak.

I studied architecture in the School of Madrid and acting at Drama Centre London.

My practice sits at the intersection of cinema, performing arts and architecture. I explore bodies, textures, feelings and I pervert spaces. I draw on references from gymnastics, synchronised swimming and Classic Hollywood actresses.

My live performance works have been programmed at venues and festivals in the UK and internationally including; Arcola, Venice Biennale, White Bear, Tristan Bates, Brighton Fringe, Stockwell Playhouse, Bow Arts, Teatros del Canal, Prague Quadrennial, Matadero Madrid, Riposte and And What? Queer Arts Fest.

My film work has screened at Fringe! Queer Film & Arts Fest, London Short Film Festival and other international film festivals.

We don’t believe in God but we believe in love. A Baroque queer show. A surreal melodrama imitation of life. A pathetic—yet poetic—journey through the lie of romantic love.
