Maria Machado is a theatre maker from Brazil. Her work is playful, comedic, and politically engaged. She is a fan of using multiple languages in shows, using autobiographical material and blurring the lines between reality and fiction. She is also a clown and an improviser. She is part of a street theatre company, Cia. Novelo, which has been performing in the streets of Brazil since 2014, making theatre accessible to communities that might not be able to afford to go to a venue. In 2021, I moved to London to do an MFA in Collaborative Theatre Making at Rose Bruford College.
