Fallow is a new company from Daniel Grimston and Amara Heyland. Daniel’s debut play was shortlisted for prizes in 2025 including Bruntwood, Papatango, and Theatre503. They trained with the Royal Court and Barbican Young Poets. Amara is a director and dramaturg whose work spans new writing at theatres including the Royal Exchange, the Gate, and The Other Palace. Our collaborations have been developed at the Royal Exchange Studio, RADA, and London Performance Studios. Fallow looks to make folk-inflected, nature-facing work exploring the edgelands of modern folk culture. It walks borders: documentary/fiction, naturalism/non-naturalism, testimony/myth, human/more-than-human, telling collected and reworked stories seldom heard on stage. We are interested in archive, oral histories and cultural record-keeping, where traditions of the past collide with textures of the present. It is cultural mythmaking with a radical politics – as folklore and mythology are co-opted in the name of exclusion, this is a direct response.
