'This delicious mash-up of queer cabaret, monologue, burlesque, and performance art, is about as positive and life-affirming a Christmas concoction as you will find anywhere.' (Reviews Hub)

A new theatre experience created by artists from across performance disciplines, with dramaturgy by Frankie Thompson (creator of smash hit CAttS (Guardian Best Comedy Shows 2022) and co-creator of BODY SHOW (The Stage Top 50 Shows 2023).

A They In A Manger is a joyful queer Christmas riot, created by and starring:

An0maly: A transgender pole artist from London, spinning around the intersections of race, gender, pleasure and difference.

Danielle James: An Irish playwright and actress living in East London. She writes about balloons, baked beans, and being trans. Generally irritable.

Len Blanco: Drag king, theatremaker and musician querying social bullshit like the gender binary through singing, pointing, laughing and winking.

Vijay Patel: A performance artist, writer and neurodivergent access consultant. He crosses forms from live art, performance art and queer club/cabaret.

Christmas can be complicated. And for queer people, often even more so.

It can present to some of us the unsettling and dangerous challenge of how to 'perform' ourselves. A They In A Manger aims to blur the lines between domestic stages and performance stages, and to celebrate the importance of queer community and the survival of our authentic selves.

    Digital run

One of the aims of the company (Wardrobe & Sons) and Camden People's Theatre is to keep theatre as affordable and accessible as possible. It was really important to us to be able to offer an online version of the show for those who are vulnerable, isolating and/or not comfortable in busy venues. Thanks to funding from the City Bridge Foundation, we were able to make a streaming version possible, including captions.

“It means so much to be working at CPT, it’s such a good opportunity to work in a professional environment at my age. I didn’t think that was ever going to happen and it means the world to me. It’s really going to help prepare me for my future and where I want to go”
