Bayangkan Bayang (Imagine a Shadow) is presented by the award-winning international artist Tristen ZiJuin and his theatre company, The Fever Kinetic.

Tristen ZiJuin is a Malaysian theatre-maker and movement director, recognised as an emerging leader in intercultural performance. A decade of practice, culminating in history as the youngest choreographer for the National Theatre of Malaysia, informs his unique craft: fusing traditional Southeast Asian physical forms like Silat and Wayang Kulit with contemporary Western theatre. His award-winning work (Mercedes Benz Creative Excellence Award, BOH Cameronian Arts Award) specialises in exploring diasporic identity and the raw, visceral narratives of the human condition.

Under his direction, The Fever Kinetic wields theatre as a scalpel. Since 2019, the company has built a reputation for ferocious, evergreen physical storytelling that fractures norms and interrogates power, identity, and societal convention. Their acclaimed productions slice through complacency, from existential satire (Acid Trip Party, 2022) to intimate explorations of digital isolation (#WFH, 2021) and third-culture identity (Baggage, 2023). They create to invoke, evoke and provoke.

This production marks a compelling UK introduction, bringing their signature rigour and transmediative exploration of text and movement to Camden People’s Theatre.
