SALTHOUSE is an arts production company and collaboration between artist Beth Bowden, and producer Susannah Bramwell. Their work has been presented at Camden People’s Theatre, VAULT Festival, Exeter Phoenix, Wardrobe Theatre, and in partnership with organisations including Doorstep Arts, Documental Productions, and the South West Coast Path Association.
Inspired by their love of the coast, alongside lives in a fast paced city, SALTHOUSE was created with a desire to make access-led, responsive, research based, interdisciplinary work for audiences across the UK. The stories SALTHOUSE creates are about places: the people who make them, connect them, and the stories that shape them - perspective. The feeling of looking at the horizon when you’re in the sea: where the sun meets the sky meets the sea.
Their first project, RIGHT OF WAY, debuted at Vault Festival in 2023 to 5 star reviews, as part of VAULT 5. It then went on a 5 venue tour in the South West, supported by Arts Council England, and in partnership with Devon Young Carers (Westbank), the South West Coast Path Association, the University of Exeter, and Arts & Culture Exeter.
