LightMovingCompany is led by writer & director Seán Butler. The company changes from project to project but their work always interrogates the structural hierarchies that our society is built on. Political disruption, absurdity, and Craic are the pillars of their work. Texts for performance are created in the room, out of the room, and through community collaboration. Seán studied Theatre Directing under Katie Mitchell in the UK and Germany for which he earned an MA. He has had work at EdFringe, INKFestival, Vaults, Scene & Heard Festival Dublin, The Space Theatre, Golden Goose Theatre, and Dublin Fringe. Seán regularly consults as a dramaturg on new work for emerging playwrights, and provides scripted development support for various TV and Film production companies. He currently acts as a writer’s assistant and script editor to screenwriter Matthew Orton across projects for Marvel, DC, Universal, Carnival, Netflix, Imagine and Amblin. He is passionate about community work and widening accessibility to the arts for young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds and with lived experience of homelessness.
