James Baker is an architect-in-training, set designer, writer, animator, illustrator, performer, MC and drummer, and co-founder of ajeeb studios. He developed My Mum Told Me Not To Marry An Atheist at The Studio Theatre and Contact Theatre, and co-created the production for its UK tour. Alongside his design practice, James performs as an MC and will appear at Kelburn Festival 2026 with aminabonthebeat. His work explores craftsmanship, making and environmental processes across architecture and performance. James exhibited work in Phantasmagory at Customs House, Edinburgh (2025), and will exhibit in Brussels as part of the WONDER Festival and the Platines exhibition at LaVallée (2026).
