Carlota Matos (she/her) is a theatre and performance artist working internationally with a focus on social change. Her practice explores questions of identity, migration, and mental ill-health, in the form of documentary / experimental / participatory performances. She frequently collaborates with charities, artists from different disciplines, and with people who are not necessarily trained or experienced performers. She is dedicated to increasing access and representation, especially for migrants and disabled people. Previous commissions include Projekt Europa and Counterpoints Arts. Recent residencies: Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg (TalentLAB) and O Rumo do Fumo in Lisbon. Carlota completed an Arts Council DYCP to scale up her work, and is part of Future Laboratory, a project of research residences throughout Europe to identify missing narratives on our stages.
Joana Merlini is a filmmaker who has worked on several different projects in Portugal, Macau, Hong Kong, and Czech Republic. She has worked as a Film Director at TDM News Broadcasting company, from the year 2019-2020 as a Lecturer for Prague College University, and she is involved in the organisation of many performing arts and food and beverage events, as a freelance videographer and photographer. Most recent works include a queer short film titled Daphane and Jo, where she operated a Komodo 6K. She was a camerawoman for music festivals in Bristol such as Ritual Union, Love Saves the Day, and Dot to Dot. Joana is also a street artist, designing stickers, painting murals and taking part in paste-up events.
