"It's not like there's even an age difference between us yet, we've been raised soo different, in the same household."
After one is humiliated at a Nigerian wedding, twin siblings, Kayode and Simi, address their differences in the matter. Exploring the bond and betrayal between these twins, the disparities between son and daughters raised in an African household and asks whether there are times complicity is necessary to get by.
Through a journey to destruction and a deeper need for redemption beneath it all, we explore the pressures of navigating life's responsibilities in the adulthood of today and what being in your mid-20’s looks like in the midst of gender comparison, womanhood and traditions of the home.
TwinBond. comments on the values system we place on our own measures of adulthood and how that intersects with the expectations of the generation above.
Special Thanks to Almeida Theatre, Soho Theatre and Hidden Viewz Productions.
Tobi King Bakare and this theatre deserve a shout-out for such a young, diverse audience. There is so much talk about audiences being full of over 60s and why, why can’t theatres get the crowds in to reflect society in general? Well, I’m happy to say that on a rainy Thursday evening, the theatre was completely full.
