    Theatre Tapas: 12th May

    Mon 12th May 7:30pm
    Tickets £8 - £15 (+ booking fee)
Don't fill yourself up on a whole play, just have some nibbly bits! 3 brand new interdisciplinary performances, including pole-dancing, puppetry, clown and satire, from international women.

Soft Play - Just The Two Of Us
Hit alt comedy double act Soft Play (aka Maria Telnikoff and Vidya Divakaran) bring an excerpt from their debut show “Just The Two Of Us!”. Their mission? To play every iconic duo in history - from Romulus and Remus to Wham! Expect childhood nostalgia, puppetry and a lot of dance breaks in this “clownish fever dream” (Reviews Hub).

Symoné - You Were Astral Projecting When They Fell In Love
Symoné is a Guinness World Record-holding interdisciplinary performer, working between alternative circus skills, drag king performance, live art, and visionary videogame design.

"You Were Astral Projecting When They Fell In Love," a solo pole dance/live art piece proposing questions surrounding identity, memory, dreaming - and parallel realities.

Sophia Golan - The Elephant And I
She moved to the UK at 19, three weeks before the war started. Back there, she had to prove her conscience to a court of soldiers, here, she tries to prove it again to the silent social court of British society. The mission gets heavier every day, as her one loyal friend refuses to leave her back, she walks with her through every door, the elephant in the room.

Sophia Golan is an international theatre-maker, working at The Yard Theatre (London), The Old Red Lion Theatre (London), The Gorki Theatre (Berlin), Hamburg Schauspielhaus (Hamburg), and Gesher Theatre (Tel Aviv). Golan have trained with Katie Mitchell in the Theatre Directing MA at Royal Holloway University of London and later has also been her intern on The House of Bernarda Alba (Hamburg Schauspielhaus).

Tobi King Bakare and this theatre deserve a shout-out for such a young, diverse audience. There is so much talk about audiences being full of over 60s and why, why can’t theatres get the crowds in to reflect society in general? Well, I’m happy to say that on a rainy Thursday evening, the theatre was completely full.
