A crazed attempt to work around gender-dysphoria and dissociation, The Undesirable Mx. PLOP is an increasingly ridiculous power negotiation between one human and their digital self.
PLOP is the frenemy they never knew they needed.
PLOP is the ultimate digital human jigsaw.
PLOP is always watching.
PLOP will tell them what to do.
PLOP sticks like chewed up gum under a shoe.
Featuring a decapitated digital head, an IKEA package of ever-stranger digital body parts and an intimate heart-to-heart between one human and their digital self – who just so happens to resemble Mike Wazowsky, The Undesirable Mx. PLOP is a gender-defiant, comedic and absurd back and forth between self-scrutiny and self-denial, exploring the process of coming to terms with genderlessness.
Tobi King Bakare and this theatre deserve a shout-out for such a young, diverse audience. There is so much talk about audiences being full of over 60s and why, why can’t theatres get the crowds in to reflect society in general? Well, I’m happy to say that on a rainy Thursday evening, the theatre was completely full.
