‘How painful it must be to bring your daughter
Across a border
Just to find a new one grow
Inside the comfort of your own home’
A brand new, exciting, and barrier-breaking show inspired by real experiences of migration.
Featuring sublime, intricate dance, and searingly honest poetry from Joanna Woźnicka, Ruptured explores the influence migration has on identity and familial relationships. How does migration affect our ability to understand each other? And how do we untangle the messy mixture of cultural, linguistic, and generational barriers that get in the way?
Created through a collaboration between a small group of international multidisciplinary artists, with Joanna Woźnicka as performer, Theodor Spiridon as Director, Arielle Zilkha as Sound Designer, and Chris Yarnell as Dramaturg, Ruptured is a unique and moving dive into wanting to belong, into falling into the in-between, into swimming inside the grey.
Joanna Woźnicka is a poet, dancer, and theatre maker. Her work often explores identity, belonging, and relationships in a tender and reflective way, leaving the words speckled on your skin long after you finish reading or leave the auditorium.
“Keep up the good work producing cutting-edge theatre for everyone in London”
