We don’t believe in God but we believe in love. A Baroque queer show. A surreal melodrama imitation of life. A pathetic—yet poetic—journey through the lie of romantic love.

A break up can bring you a lot of things. Here’s a sweaty—bittersweet comedy about the bullshit of romantic LOVE. In the shape of a crazy, multi-genre melodrama: cinema, musical, exhausting dance, baroque architecture, romance novel, silly soap-opera, a ‘wellness’ podcast that tells you to go pee in the supermarket.

A Petri Dish of ideas, images and feeling: bodies, Catholic Madonnas, human fountains and the constant quest of LOVE and being loved.

From Chocolate boxes to the poisoned positivity that tells you ‘happiness’ is in your hands. From STDs to ‘Snow White’, from the religious foundation in the idea of LOVE to absurd South Korean trends—#couplelook; from Lady Gaga to the pharmaceutical capitalism over ‘liberated’ bodies in the name of connection (PrEP or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the claps). From all the social assets you lose after a separation (the disappearance of the community you thought you belonged to) to tacky infomercials.

Seeing Little Angels without Body is watching the chaotic, stinky, glorious inner life of the protagonist unfold before your eyes. Her spite becomes a mannerist wrist twisted in mid-air as she faints naked on a chair. A monument to vulnerability.

This project was supported by the Program of Residencies of DT Espacio Escénico, Madrid and the Festival ‘XX ciclo VO (uveó)’.
