Big Bang is CPT’s regular scratch night: an explosion of performance from which new universes of theatre may one day emerge. These jam-packed platforms are highlights of the CPT programme: the place to see wild and wonderful new projects take their first steps.

Each bill features three or four artists or companies performing 15-20 minutes of fresh-from-the-rehearsal-room work-in-development. They’re doing so because they want to know what works and what doesn’t, and they’d love you to tell them. So please join us for – and share your thoughts on – these exclusive previews of tomorrow’s most exciting theatre, today…

    Goblin Presented by Jack Wakely

Jack Wakely doesn't care what you think you've heard - there's no goblin in this show. They're sorry you've been misled so terribly. They're just a nice, normal human being. And, quite frankly, it's really strange that you'd believe otherwise.

A scratch performance of a new solo work by Jack Wakely of Silent Faces Theatre (Godot is a Woman, A Clown Show About Rain, Follow Suit) and the London Neo-Futurists (The Dirty Thirty).

    Look Presented by Yifei Ma

Spend 30 minutes with Yifei, and she will show you the most intimate things—exactly how she wants you to see them. This provocative performance flips the script on how Asian women’s bodies are seen, dissected, and consumed in media and culture. A compelling theatre of gaze and control, the production combines striking visuals and physical storytelling—Yifei’s body, miniature figures, live feeds, projected videos, and an original soundscape. Intimate, subversive, and visually arresting, this performance is not a critique but an invitation to see what Yifei wants you to see.

    Weighted Blankets presented by Gutty

Maybe tomorrow, you’ll be somewhere else.

Weighted Blankets unravels the non-linear process of healing after mental trauma, keeping focus more on the feelings of the victim and their humanity than the acts of trauma themselves. In this way, the show foregrounds a broader process of psychological reflection, which speaks to anyone who has experienced periods of mental illness or distress in their own lives. Created by two London-based audio producers, with an emphasis on exploring music as an active form of theatrical narrative and staging, Weighted Blankets finds new ways to combine sound and visuals to recreate compelling psychological headspaces. The live spatial music at the centre of the performance invites the audience to immerse themselves in the comforting yet intoxicating limbo state, as the title suggests, and to experience the emotional journey beyond this space and towards acceptance alongside the performers as the set and sound changes. Drawing on personal stories and depicting sensitive personal spaces, the show reaches out a kind hand to those who have been through similar experiences or are close to people who have.
