Big Bang is CPT’s regular scratch night: an explosion of performance from which new universes of theatre may one day emerge. These jam-packed platforms are highlights of any CPT season: the place to see wild and wonderful new projects take their first steps. This month's event features artists from our Seed Commission scheme.

Each bill features three or four artists or companies performing 15-20 minutes of fresh-from-the-rehearsal-room work-in-development. They’re doing so because they want to know what works and what doesn’t, and they’d love you to tell them. So please join us for – and share your thoughts on – these exclusive previews of tomorrow’s most exciting theatre, today…

Performed at 6pm in the Basement (running time approx 20mins):

Into the Pit with Coal Minor by AK Golding (suitable for 16+)

In an abandoned pit of the Middlelands lurks a strange creature, a shape-shifter, a lonely, lonely boy. Come down to Coal Minor’s pit to see light entertainment in the dark.
An experimental, working-class, drag, cabaret show devised by AK Golding alongside collaborators Siobhán Cannon-Brownlie, Stef O’Driscoll, Pierre Roxon, Zoë Frost, Raphael Achache, Hetty Hodgson, Roisin Martindale, Luke Wintour.

Performed at 7.15pm in the Theatre (running time approx 50 mins including interval):

I Dream in Colour by Jasmin Thien (suitable for 14+)

A one-woman play exploring memory, loss, and the intersection between disability and culture, drawn from Jasmin’s experiences growing up fighting eye cancer as a Bruneian-born Chinese. What if the only way to move forward is to look back, into your own past, and the past of our ancestors?

Written and Performed by Jasmin Thien
    Directed by Max Percy

This performance will have integrated audio description.

N'DONGO by Kaleya Baxe and Garcia Baxe (suitable for 13+)

When an old family feud resurfaces on the streets of Luanda, they must unpick their history if they are to gain understanding. But can they move forward?

N'DONGO is a new musical exploring the history of this distinctive Angolan Kingdom, from the arrival of the Portuguese, to the revolutionary Queen Nzinga and the lessons of Goddess Kianda.
