Black, British and fed up with your life in the UK? Choose Blaxit
Blaxit Means Blaxit is a bold, satirical and tender exploration of young Black Brits who decide life in the UK is no longer enough.
Angry and alienated, Simona longs to escape the life she has known. Radiant and revitalised, Blaxit influencers Carmen and Elijah encourage Black Brits to return to the lands their ancestors left not so long ago. Enticed by their promise of paradise Simona packs up her life in the UK for Barbados. Will a new generation be able to complete the search for a better life, generations before them fought for in the UK or does that better life not exist? Blaxit Means Blaxit is an award-winning play (Mustapha Matura Award 2025) by Thea Melton exploring Caribbean identity, themes of belonging, alienation and displacement.
"Our children live in the most deprived ward in London and their parents cannot afford to pay for the classes and activities many more privileged children enjoy after school and at the weekends. A free-to-access youth group run by a local theatre in a professional setting is an incredible opportunity."
