SHYBAIRN makes theatre for social change. We collaborate with young people and academics to create performance as a form of climate activism.

Our debut show ‘TALK PROPA’ explored what it is to be a northern woman today. It was developed at The Pleasance & CPT’s Sprint Festival, performed at CPT’s 2020 Spring Season & VAULT Festival where it received The Cultivate Bursary & was one of Lyn Gardner’s ‘Top Picks’. It was shortlisted for The Untapped Award & Les Enfants Terribles Award.

We were awarded the Live Theatre Bursary 2020 & artsdepot residency ‘21 to develop our second show BURNOUT. BURNOUT is an interactive play about privilege, activism & climate justice written by Nicole Acquah and devised by the company in collaboration with climate activists across the UK. BURNOUT toured the UK in 2023 to venues including Live Theatre, South St Arts Centre and Theatre by the Lake.
