"Anyone can be a politician, even you."
Tess has moved back to Leeds after a break up. Temping at a call centre and trying to survive a frosty house-share, she’s feeling lost, until she meets the Yorkshire Party and is inspired to stand in the 2017 UK General Election.
Thrust into the spotlight, Tess takes the Yorkshire Party’s passion for people, park & rides and Yorkshire devolution to the streets, finding friends in unlikely places. But with the General Election getting ever closer, she starts to question whether she’s doing the right thing.
Laugh-out-loud funny with catchy original songs, Say Yes to Tess is the hilarious and uplifting true story of activism, Yorkshire grit and learning to vote for yourself.
All performances include integrated audio-description. Performances at 3pm & 7.15pm on Saturday 16th April will be BSL interpreted by Keren Seabrook
Created by TheatreState in association with Leeds Playhouse and supported by Camden People’s Theatre.

Tobi King Bakare and this theatre deserve a shout-out for such a young, diverse audience. There is so much talk about audiences being full of over 60s and why, why can’t theatres get the crowds in to reflect society in general? Well, I’m happy to say that on a rainy Thursday evening, the theatre was completely full.
