  • Programming

We programme the most exciting new work from the most exciting new voices. CPT is interested in work which seeks to make the world a better place, whether through exploring political questions, platforming marginalised stories, or by bringing people together to share joy and community.

Our programme consists of two main seasons (Spring and Autumn) and two festivals a year - SPRINT festival, London’s longest running celebration of new and alternative performance, and a focussed summer festival (for example, 2025’s EveryBody Festival celebrated deaf and disabled artists, and in 2026 we platformed South Asian stories and voices).

During our main seasons, we programme a mixture of longer running theatre shows (typically in 1-3 week runs, in the 7:15pm slot), alternative performance such as cabaret, performance art or comedy (typically two or three performances, in the 9pm slot) and work-in-progress sharings, which are programmed through our Test Match scheme. We are particularly interested in programming work with integrated access features, such as captioning or audio description. We don’t tend to programme revivals or classics, we want new writing, new devised work, and work which doesn’t fit into neat categories. We don’t tend to produce in house, so please don’t send us a script; we do sometimes co-produce with artists and companies, and we begin relationships with them through our programme or artist support schemes.

A big part of our philosophy is our open calls - both Test Match and SPRINT are open for anyone to apply. To keep in the loop with applications opening, you can sign up to our Artists’ newsletter, or keep an eye on our social media. To be programmed for a longer run during a season, you can start a conversation by sending us a tour pack, inviting us to see your work, or starting a relationship with us through Test Match, SPRINT, or one of our festivals. Our programmed shows receive a financial guarantee, plus a split of the Box Office, and Test Match sharings receive a flat fee.

Under the artistic leadership of Rio Matchett, we’re interested in performance which drives forwards a conversation, not just reiterating existing ideas. We want stories that give new angles or insight on universal human experiences, performance which challenges ideas or assumptions, and theatre that brings audiences and communities together. We believe theatre is a training ground for imagination, and through it, we want to not only imagine a better world, but take steps to create one.

Artist development and support is at the heart of everything we do. To find out how we support artists, including our free workshops,  Starting Blocks residency programme, and open call programming opportunities, head to our Artist Support page.

Our theatre has 63 seats and our usual ticket prices are £18 standard, concessions £15, £12 students or £10 for work-in-progress shows.

If you’re interested in being part of our curated programme, you can:

Invite us to sharings / performances. Please email [email protected] with the subject line SHOW INVITATION: SHOW NAME, and include information about your project and why CPT is the right venue for it.

Alternatively, send us a tour pack to [email protected] with the subject line PROGRAMMING SUBMISSION: Show Name including information on the show, the team, technical requirements, timelines and availability.

We try and see as much work as we can, but we’re a small team, so if you can tell us why your work is a good fit for CPT, that’s really helpful.

Outside of our curated programme, we also hire out our theatre and rehearsal space, including through the Camden Fringe festival. We’re always happy to chat about you hiring our spaces - head to our Hire Us page below to find out more info.

Please get in touch. We need exciting projects from amazing new creatives just as much as you need us!
