    Education Education Karaoke

    Tue 23 – Sat 27 Nov at 7.15pm
    Tickets £12 (£10)
    ARCHIVE
With a state education, a karaoke machine an unrehearsed performer takes a romp through the last 20 years of education and pop music.

What does Atomic Kitten have to do with Tony Blair’s education policy? What had the cha cha slide got to teach us about managed decline in small towns? Does the secret to revolution lie in karaoke?

Armed with a state education, a karaoke machine and a dance mat, every night an unrehearsed guest performer is going to try and work out the answer to all these questions and more.

We follow one class from 2000 to 2020, and as every year goes by the guest performer chooses a number one hit song from that year which has inspired either a monologue, karaoke challenge or dance mat routine. The choices that are made change how the show turns out, so every  night is unique, it’s up to you to decide who goes to university, who passes their exams, and who slips through the cracks of a broken system.

Education, Education, Karaoke is the story of the divisions that wealthy politicians built into state education, and through this choose-your-own tacky adventure we’re going to work out how we might all come back together in solidarity and change that.

Developed on Starting Blocks at CPT.
