The Only Brown Deaf Man in England (WIP)

    Fri 4 Jul at 8:30pm
    Tickets £10 (+ booking fee)
A fierce, funny, and unapologetically bold work-in-progress — one Deaf Bengali man's journey through racism, rebellion, and resilience from 1970s Brick Lane to post-9/11 Britain.

Come and watch this incredible work-in-progress, written by Nadeem Islam and created with Fuse Theatre.

From 1970s Brick Lane to the post-9/11 present, The Only Brown Deaf Man in England follows Rajkumar, a Deaf Bengali man, as he navigates the chaos, comedy and contradictions of life in Britain. Fleeing genocide, dodging racists, clashing with his hearing parents, and somehow finding laughter in it all — Rajkumar's story is funny, fierce and deeply moving.

This is a bold new one-man show blending British Sign Language, razor-sharp humour, and powerful storytelling. Join us for an exclusive peek into this work-in-progress performance as it takes its first steps from script to stage.

This event will be in BSL with spoken English interpretation. It will be followed by a Q&A with the writer/performer, director and movement director.
