We live in a time of ‘Endlings’ – the last individual of a species – caused by human actions. You may remember Lonesome George, the last Pinta Island Tortoise, but do you remember Turgi, the last Polynesian Tree Snail? He died in a plastic box and his grave marker read "1.5 million years BC to January 1996". Who will go next?
As species extinction speeds up, Strange Futures pose some difficult questions for all of us through quirky humour, new writing and physical performance.
"This is something seriously exciting” ★★★★ The Stage
In making this show, Strange Futures consulted environmental specialists to look at the relationship between human activity, the climate crisis and species extinction. We were also delighted to receive with extra support from renowned theatre maker, Julian Spooner of Rhum & Clay (War of the Worlds, Mistero Buffo, Testosterone).
"Our children live in the most deprived ward in London and their parents cannot afford to pay for the classes and activities many more privileged children enjoy after school and at the weekends. A free-to-access youth group run by a local theatre in a professional setting is an incredible opportunity."
