My name is Lara and I am joined by four visitors from early Apartheid in South Africa who want to tell you what they had seen. An axe, an eviction notice, a passbook and a camera will appear onstage to share their eyewitness statements of events they witnessed under Apartheid. How did the axe take part in the Battle of Andringa Street? Who was evicted from their homes? And where are the children? The objects will be seated on plinths so you can see each other. I will facilitate the microphone so you can hear them clearly. Here and there, I will perform a task for them. They are nervous to be making their stage debut at Camden People's Theatre but, just like me, they believe that this history is something that needs to be looked at. Our performance features music and freshly trimmed roses. We hope you will join us.
