Scratch is an explosion of performance from which new universes of theatre may one day emerge. These jam-packed platforms are highlights of the CPT programme: the place to see wild and wonderful new projects take their first steps. For the festival, we'll be exclusively programming deaf, disabled and neurodivergent artists, sharing brand new ideas.

Each bill features three or four artists or companies performing 15-20 minutes of fresh-from-the-rehearsal-room work-in-development. They’re doing so because they want to know what works and what doesn’t, and they’d love you to tell them. So please join us for – and share your thoughts on – these exclusive previews of tomorrow’s most exciting theatre, today...

    Lineup:

    Invisible - Charlie Heptinstall

Invisible is a raw, moving new play based on a true story of survival against the odds. It follows one person’s journey through chronic illness, type 1 diabetes and Crohn’s disease, and the devastating impact of homelessness. Forgotten by the system and invisible to society, they fight to be heard, seen, and treated with dignity. Blending dark humour, honesty, and hope, Invisible shines a light on the hidden struggles of living with an invisible disability. This is a story for anyone who’s ever felt overlooked — and a call to notice those we so often ignore.

    Jelly - Grace Lyons

A woman battles a sticky obsession after her life begins solely revolving around jelly. Now alone and looking out from her moulded world, she’s decided to attempt a journey to better herself, one wobbly temptation at a time.

Jelly is a reaction to the modern allure that drives us, our attention spans shortened and our needs being met. Surrounded by self help, calls to love yourself and ‘if you start now, this time next year you’ll be..’, where do you even begin? When something comes along - perhaps in a shiny, moulded, jiggling form - why not cling to it?

Grace Lyons is an actor and theatre maker, previously working under Pareidolia Theatre with their show Woman! Pilot! Pirate? **** which was performed at VAULT festival and Underbelly Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

POVVO puts the fun in funeral - Adam Fenton

Povvo has invited you to a very special party... their wake! That's right, this clown is putting the FUN in FUNERAL, but you can't spell MOURN without OUR, so you are all along for the ride. POVVO takes us on a dry run at death to try and find some meaning before the real thing.

    BSL interpretation by Hahna Ahmed.
