Languishing in the brutal heatwave of the city, Billie is trapped: in an overheating box room, and in a body they don’t recognise. Lured to the dark waters of the Kenwood Ladies ponds by ‘The Ladies’ (a neoprene-clad Greek chorus of older swimmers), Billie becomes enraptured by the transformative powers of the water and the freedom it promises. But as they dive deeper into the murky depths, they are forced to learn just how slippery freedom can be.
