Friday 6th June
The Doctor Will See You Now - Goldsmith University Drama Society
Performance Time: 1:10-1:50 PM
Five strangers are trapped in the hospital waiting room, where time loses all meaning. While waiting for their appointments, they must endure broken systems, a severely overworked and understaffed hospital team, and each other. Facing plenty of curveballs these strangers must fight a descent into chaos and anarchy. In a time where healthcare systems are crumbling everywhere, this absurdist comedy emphasises the ridiculous negligence of essential healthcare in times of need while showcasing a common experience.
Ambrosia - UAL Drama Society
Performance Time: 3:50- 4:30 PM
Ambrosia, the gracious Goddess of Intelligence, falls in love with the God of Beauty, Melulius. However, his passion becomes obsessive and relentless. As events spiral beyond Ambrosia's control, a woman named Jess finds herself lost and unsure of who she is. This play explores the ideas of feminism in the context of age old myths, but also our modern age. With a blend of theatre and painting, this tale invites us to consider the patriarchy's effect on our subconscious.
King Lear - Royal Holloway Shakespeare Society
Performance Time: 5 - 5:40 PM
A new adaptation of King Lear, focusing on the mental health impacts of Lear's downward spiral on those closest to him, brought to the stage this June with inspiration from
expressionism theatre.
Thin Air - Kings Alumni Theatre Society
Performance Time: 6 - 6:20 PM
Do you ever find yourself talking to thin air?
Follow five people through joy, grief, and the occasional breakdown in this collection of monologues, all set in moments that are apparently private.
Written and directed by Ellie Scott-Smith (Director and Writer of Lysistrata in the Wings (Greenwood Theatre 2024) assistant director and co-writer of Kassandra (FUSE 2023))
Do you have a Fascination with Certain Objects? - Kings Players
Performance Time: 6:40 - 7 PM
This piece explores the intersection between disability performance and gender performance, and how those two performances often clash in late-diagnosed autistic women. In a game show setting where the stakes couldn't be higher, CONTESTANT struggles under HOST's questions and the bright studio lights, trying desperately to win a competition that was never designed for her.
Saturday 7th June
As you Like it - Royal Holloway Shakespeare Company
Performance Time: 1:10- 1:50 PM
In this innovative adaptation of As You Like It, the play's uproarious love stories are set within the structured world of a restaurant. The original forest setting, free from rules, is reimagined as a space where relationships unfold amidst the strict conventions of dining etiquette. Jaques contemplates life between courses, Rosalind and Orlando engage in a flirtatious game of disguise, and Silvius pines for Phebe in the most awkward of settings. This clever reworking brings new layers of comedy to Shakespeare's classic, where love is always on the menu.
The Storm - Imperial Drama Society
Performance Time: 3 - 3:30 PM
A terrible storm has trapped Patrick, Partridge and Petra in their apartment! In this surrealist and existential comedy, nobody can agree on what the storm even looks like, and yet they will need to find a way out amongst all their philosophical and ridiculous arguing. Will they confront their fears and find a way to get through the pouring rain, thunder, and even power outages? There is only one way to find out…
All in the Timing by David Ives - Kings Players
Performance Time: 6 -6:30 PM
A collection of one act plays centred around the complexities of human interaction, language, and love. These short pieces aim to showcase the power of storytelling through theatre, and highlights the power of the actor, through the use of minimal set, costume, and props. It’s certain to leave you both laughing and thinking about life!
Richard III - Royal Holloway Shakespeare Society
