Artists and collaborators Calum Perrin and Jenny Witzel present two work-in-progress performances: one exploring bureaucratic systems in relation to precarious lives; the other, symbiotic living in uncertain times.

I, Symbiont

: an organism living in symbiosis
especially : the smaller member of a symbiotic pair

Through a documentary approach drawing on interviews with expert and lay symbionts, Jenny investigates examples of capitalist resistance through mutually beneficial exchange between humans and the non-human.

This show is about being on hold, about navigating a maze of phone systems, about dealing with obscure rules and vague guidelines. Drawing on experiences of Universal Credit, the performance will look at automated systems gone wrong - the way that benefit claimants can get lost in a web of bureaucracy.
