All Saints’ Takeover: Enter the Conclave

    Sat 1st November, 9pm
    Tickets PWYC from £3
We're throwing our very own Conclave. Celebrate Queer Christmas (Halloween) with us on All Saints’ Day, for the ONLY scratch night/film club/election you will ever attend. Amen.

Who’s going to be the next Pope of Camden?

Part performance, part scratch night, part film club, and ALL unhinged - join us for the chance to be a cardinal and elect the first (openly) trans Pope! For real.

Three performers were selected at short notice to devise rapid responses to the film Conclave (2024). We can’t wait to see what these are. We’re ready to be surprised!

For this, our 2025 Conclave of Camden’s People Theatre, your Curia aka the Plastics of the Vatican will be:

    Evie Chandler

Evie is a playwright and theatre maker from the Yorkshire Dales, and is currently based in Oxford. Her work focuses on trans femininity, family, christianity, and taboo desire. Recent work includes ‘Ordinary Time’ (Rehearsed reading, The Space), and ‘Jenny and the Cockroach’ (Work in progress, Etcetera Theatre). She is currently a member of the Soho Theatre Writers’ Lab, 25/26 cohort.

    Saucefunk

Saucefunk is an artist who specialises in movie poster design. They’ve made art and posters for the Popecrave ‘From The Crooked Timber of Humanity’ zine and promotional art for the Conclave dating sim. They made the legendary ‘walk my turtle’ gif - IYKYK. They believe in the power of movies, the power of old man yaoi, and the power of really loud espresso machines.

    Merlin Stevens

Merlin Stevens is an intersex man from Chicago (like the pope and like the other pope) and graduate of Rose Bruford College.

Theatre includes: The Paddington Bear Experience (Gamepath), Measure for Measure, Spamalot (Marin Shakespeare Company), Proud (Courtyard Theatre), The Machiavelli Project (The Pleasance, Camden Fringe), No Room At The Inn, Horatio In Thy Heart, Holy Monster, Through Bush Through Briar (Edinburgh Fringe), Plato The Meathead, In Search of Exquisite Medicines (Etcetera Theatre), The Elagabalia (Brighton Fringe), Love and Information (Metre Squared), Richard II (Classical Entertainment Society)

Film includes: Dear Knobhead, Chasing Rainbows, The Shadow Rift, Disaster Stikes!, Sriracha, The Billionaire Surprise (Moboreels #1 trending series, 2.4 million views), Unconditionally, Sublime, The Interrogation, Warm Egg, These Flowers Might Be Ours

Television includes: The Defenders, Loud Voices Silent Streets, Punch Clock Pixie

And your conclave compère/Dean of the College of Cardinals:

    Arden Fitzroy

Arden Fitzroy is an award-winning actor, fight performer, writer, and cultural analyst. They have performed and have had their work published widely in both indie and mainstream channels too numerous to mention. However, their proudest legacy will forever be their legendary, unhinged Instagram story feed, where their Conclave liveblog—and subsequent endless posting—continues to baffle, amuse, and arouse the hearts of literally dozens. They know what their Pope name would be. Come find out ;)

And yes - you CAN sit with us. Because we’re all sequestered.

    Costumes encouraged—bring your Halloween vibes.

Suggested theme: on All Saints’, we wear red.

There will be time for a Q&A and catch up in the bar afterwards!

This event is part of the Trans Takeover at Camden People's Theatre, produced by Greta Rilletti.
