A dark and absurdist dive into the depths of modern activism and the hypocrite in all of us, Eating Jeff follows four disillusioned employees of a megacorporation as their dull team bonding games descend into a chaotic journey of self-reflection.
Devised by NO TABLE, the piece draws on today’s shifting activism landscape as it clashes with growing feelings of despondency, nihilism, and powerlessness. Set in an all-too-familiar dystopian corporate world, Eating Jeff zooms in on the absurd idolatry for our billionaire overlords and the harmful ‘hustle culture’ they continue to breed.
Eating Jeff was first presented at Peckham Previews Festival, and was developed as part of Blue Elephant Theatre's Elephantology residency.
Tobi King Bakare and this theatre deserve a shout-out for such a young, diverse audience. There is so much talk about audiences being full of over 60s and why, why can’t theatres get the crowds in to reflect society in general? Well, I’m happy to say that on a rainy Thursday evening, the theatre was completely full.
