Dublin, 1997. Two friends worship Princess Diana under the nose of their nationalist families. A show that asks, Can a republican rock a revenge dress?

Set amongst the backdrop of Dublin in 1997, a year before the peace-treaty, Don't Tell Dad About Diana follows two friends obsessed with Princess Diana who are forced to hide their royal obsession from their extremely (Irish) nationalist households.

As both friends prepare their Diana act for the ‘Miss Alternative Ireland’ drag competition, her death sparks the unravelling of both their friendship and their secret, forcing what they’ve hidden together and from each other, to come to light. This is a fast paced, camp exploration of arm-chair Irish nationalism, teen idolisation and formative childhood-friendships on the cusp of great change.

Written and Performed by Hannah power and Conor Murray, Don't Tell Dad about Diana offers audiences a healthy dose of nostalgia, comedy and camp.

"Our children live in the most deprived ward in London and their parents cannot afford to pay for the classes and activities many more privileged children enjoy after school and at the weekends. A free-to-access youth group run by a local theatre in a professional setting is an incredible opportunity."
