Big Bang is CPT’s regular scratch night: an explosion of performance from which new universes of theatre may one day emerge. These jam-packed platforms are highlights of any CPT season: the place to see wild and wonderful new projects take their first steps. This month's event features artists from our Seed Commission scheme.
Each bill features three or four artists or companies performing 15-20 minutes of fresh-from-the-rehearsal-room work-in-development. They’re doing so because they want to know what works and what doesn’t, and they’d love you to tell them. So please join us for – and share your thoughts on – these exclusive previews of tomorrow’s most exciting theatre, today…
Joining us on the 1st September:
Cash & Carry Presented by Naz Şimşek
Cash & Carry celebrates the invisible industry behind the incredibly Instagrammable tray of meze that arrives to your table at your favourite spot in Hackney. It commemorates the career of a single Turkish man who paved his way in the UK by delivering cans of chickpeas to restaurants from his van in Dalston in the 90s (AKA my dad).
X.VIDEOS Presented by Kc Gardiner
A one-woman show unpacking misogyny, image theft and the depths of feminism concerning morals. Riley, a young actor, is just trying to book a job while facing meaningless roles, full-frontal nudity, and revenge porn.
Writer and performer: Kc Gardiner
Director: Poppy Waxman
Design: Amelia Fenwick

SADBOI Presented by Simeon Campbell
SADBOI is the inside of my head, as told through hip hop dance, with embedded sign language
Tobi King Bakare and this theatre deserve a shout-out for such a young, diverse audience. There is so much talk about audiences being full of over 60s and why, why can’t theatres get the crowds in to reflect society in general? Well, I’m happy to say that on a rainy Thursday evening, the theatre was completely full.
