“Generational loss... The older we get the more we lose, the stories, the people and the fragmented memories all get distorted, but what if we could clear this image? What if the VHS spat itself back out, the boogyman strangled us with the tape and sent us down the river? BOGGIN aims to help us navigate this low road.”
“BOGGIN” is an experimental, auto-biographical performance that explores the concept of 'Generational Loss' and applying it to the human experience. “BOGGIN” aims to combine elements of family memories with creatures and tales from Scottish Folklore. All while communicating a story recently passed down to me by my Grandmother about our family's history and connections to Ethiopia and my family's part in the Great Abbai Expedition. The show aims to challenge viewers to care more about what their elders have to say, to care about their culture, to care about the documentation of one's life. A love letter to my Scottish heritage, to my Family and to my Uncle. The show will also feature its own unique experimental soundtrack created live on stage by Riley Hamshaw-mills, in response to the subject matter being presented.
"A great local theatre making a massive difference to the local community."
