APEX is a one-person show that explores how many of today’s young men are unknowingly seduced into a digital cult following. Incorporating immersive livestreams and voiceovers, APEX aims to reopen a conversation on modern masculinity that is too often swept under the rug.
André is a self-proclaimed "High Value Male" and podcaster, broadcasting from his gaudy home studio. Galvanised by an over-inflated ego he preaches discipline, dominance, and hustle culture to a loyal online following desperate in their search for meaning. Behind the sunglasses and sound effects, though, is a deeply insecure young man desperately clinging to control.
Over the course of a single, chaotic livestream, André opens the floor to his listeners. What begins as a parade of absurd fitness gurus and desperate teenagers looking for dating advice, soon deteriorates into a dark reflection of the echo chamber he has built. The line between satire and danger blurs revealing the terrifying real-world consequences of playing God on the internet.
