Uri Agnon is an Israeli Jerusalemite composer, playwright and activist. His work explores the boundaries between theatre, music and politics as well as themes of identity, Jewishness and activism. His pieces have been commissioned by and performed at major music festivals, art galleries, theatres, demonstrations and direct actions. His works include the chamber opera Word Problems, which is composed entirely of Israeli school textbooks, the oratorio Custodian, staged as a direct action on the doorsteps of the Jewish National Fund, the Tel Aviv Museum-commissioned ‘Absentee’ means, and many pieces for theatre, film, dance and concert halls.
