Theodora van der Beek makes live performances and films that challenge the gender binary and explore the mechanics of power and privilege. With an innovative, dynamic approach and a lo-fi, homemade aesthetic she tells darkly comedic stories that ask the audience to look at the world from a different perspective. Mischievous, joyful and messy, her work delights in the bleakness of the human condition.

She is supported by Arts Council England and her five solo shows, My Death, Egg, The Adventures of the Bearded Lady, Drink Your Pink and Ram of God, have been programmed at fringes and theatres around the world.

There is so much talk about audiences being full of over 60s and why, why can’t theatres get the crowds in to reflect society in general? Well, I’m happy to say that on a rainy Thursday evening, the theatre was completely full.
