    Jessica Hagan is a Ghanaian-British playwright and screenwriter. Her debut play QUEENS OF SHEBA, which started at the Camden People’s Theatre in 2017, recently embarked on a 2024 USA Tour, starting at The Lincoln Center, New York before transferring to Oklahoma and Maryland. In 2023, the play had a 2-week run at The Public Theater, New York and performed to sold out audiences. Queens of Sheba has won several awards for its sold-out UK tour in 2019. In 2020, the rights were optioned for television by Tiger Aspect Productions. Jessica is a recipient of the Writers Guild National Play Commission Scheme 2022 and is also a Jerwood Arts Fellow. Her second play BRENDA’S GOT A BABY premiered at New Diorama Theatre. In 2023, she was one of the four screenwriters chosen by the Realness Institute to participate in AuthenticA Series Lab, a 6-month program that culminated in a pitch session at the last Series Mania Forum. She successfully pitched her TV show, which was later optioned for TV by a UK/US production company. She now writes for screen and stage

    Tobi King Bakare and this theatre deserve a shout-out for such a young, diverse audience. There is so much talk about audiences being full of over 60s and why, why can’t theatres get the crowds in to reflect society in general? Well, I’m happy to say that on a rainy Thursday evening, the theatre was completely full.
