Anju Marie Kasturiraj is a queer South Indian American director, video artist, and theatre maker. She contextualizes her work within a realm that names the borders between dreams and waking hours as fictitious, as her practice is a dissection of the abject, the ether, and the other. She is a graduate of the Central Saint Martins MFA in Performance Design and Practice program, where she devised and directed the live performance, Meru (2021). Anju is directing its anthological sibling, Sigala (2022), a dis/embodiment of inner child mythologies and personal histories for UglyDuck, premiering in May 2022. Other recent work includes: Memories of Yesterday (2021), a documentary produced by Greenwich + Docklands International Festival; Mother Mirror (2021), a film for Royal Museums LGBTQ History month. Her practice centers ancestral veneration, genealogical relationships to soil, and psycho-esoteric ritual.
