It's 1938 and Liesl has fled Nazi Germany. With her sideboard, suitcase and sewing machine, she embarks on becoming an 'ortinerry Inklisch hausvyfe' in North London. A humorous, musical and topical new play adapted from Sophie Herxheimer's Sunday Times Poetry Book of The Year. Familiar presence on stage and screen, Sarah Malin inhabits and performs this resonant tale of exile and home.

Supported by Arts Council England, JW3 and Nightingale Hammerson

"Sophie Herxheimer writes extraordinary poetry. 'Velkom to Inklandt' has also been an Observer book of the month."
    Carmen Callil, Radio 4

Tobi King Bakare and this theatre deserve a shout-out for such a young, diverse audience. There is so much talk about audiences being full of over 60s and why, why can’t theatres get the crowds in to reflect society in general? Well, I’m happy to say that on a rainy Thursday evening, the theatre was completely full.
