We’re excited to present four brand new translations developed during the fifth edition of our Theatre Translator Mentorship programme.

Launched in 2016, the programme is designed to develop and promote theatre in translation by nurturing a new generation of professional theatre translators.

Over the course of two nights, we’ll showcase plays by acclaimed playwrights from Hungary, Italy, Norway and Mexico, all translated into English for the first time.

Each night will include four play readings (20-minute extracts) performed by an international ensemble, followed by a post-show discussion with the translators and creative team.

    The plays:
We Are Warriors by Monica Isakstuen
    translated by Lise Lærdal Bryn

Suburban Miracles by Gabriele Di Luca
    translated by Marco Young

    Firefly Love by Alejandro Ricaño
    translated by Tonya Walton

With me on her lap by Zsófia Znajkay
    translated by Veronika Haacker-Lukacs

There will be a post-show discussion following the event lasting approx 30 mins

"A great window on the world for the UK theatre."
David Spencer, Playwright & Creative Writing Tutor
"When theatre is made from the heart, it shows"
Lora Krasteva, Artistic Director Global Voices Theatre

“Keep up the good work producing cutting-edge theatre for everyone in London”

Councillor Jonathan Simpson, 29 January 2018
