February 2021:
I shoot an ‘against-the-odds’ documentary.
It’s about a 24 year old (that’s me) befriending a 70 year old filmmaker (that’s Jack*), who I ethically and considerately cold-called using the number on his missing cat poster.
It was the start of a beautiful friendship.
However, due to unforeseen circumstances, I can’t show you that film. Ever.
April 2023: You’re all invited to the premiere.
Poster Boy explores the joys and dangers of rubbing shoulders with strangers and wandering into the backyards of people we don’t know. In this auto(lie)ographical solo show, Lou Doyle attempts to screen an unscreenable film about things gone amiss - and the unexpected guests that show up to fill the empty gaps.

"Our children live in the most deprived ward in London and their parents cannot afford to pay for the classes and activities many more privileged children enjoy after school and at the weekends. A free-to-access youth group run by a local theatre in a professional setting is an incredible opportunity."
