Curfew, is a 45 minute multi-disciplinary performance piece, blending dance, theatre, drag and film projection, to explore the sad, frightening, funny, and hopeful verbatim experiences of women and non binary people in public spaces at night.
On a journey from hyper-theatrical clown drag ‘men’, relishing rowdy nightly existence’ to Lizzo’s ‘Boys’, to authentic embodiments of women and non-binary people exploring true freedom, this is a loud, tongue-in-cheek show, dressed in LOTS of colourful clothes.
Curfew is about reclaiming the conversation around sexual assault and harassment. The second half is choreographed to a score of verbatim voice recordings from women to whom we asked the question ‘What would you do if men had a curfew?’, and stages uplifting, playful and thought-provoking responses. It both highlights the sad reality of the ‘curfew’ invisibly imposed on women and non-binary people and, importantly, celebrates all of the weird and wonderful things we could be doing if gendered violence was not a threat.

"Our children live in the most deprived ward in London and their parents cannot afford to pay for the classes and activities many more privileged children enjoy after school and at the weekends. A free-to-access youth group run by a local theatre in a professional setting is an incredible opportunity."
