Spoken-word artist Paul Haworth finds joy in those two most joyless subjects: death and Britain.

In this irreverent and moving show, Paul seeks to understand the state we’re in by asking the big questions: Why Ed Sheeran? Why LadBaby? Why Captain Tom?

As we live through the aftermath of the pandemic and a time when the words ‘cost of living’ are depressingly familiar, the show explores why certain songs are chosen to mark death. The songs are based on a chart compiled by Co-op Funeralcare.

"Full of meaning and no meaning!"
    Tom Rosenthal, musician
"Moving, powerful, furious and funny, Haworth is a chokehold of wonder whose ingenious material and primeval delivery will haunt your sleep."
Matthew Green, historian and author of Shadowlands

Great theatre, lovely young team, brilliant supportive diverse programming, the only theatre I can think of that is currently supporting so many theatremakers.
