A Doodle takes inspiration from Absurd Theatre and it will create an authentic and deeply honest experience that will switch between a barren reality and a populated fantasy.

The inspiration is "simple": my father's death. One of the clearest memories I have of him is of a little doodle he used to draw for me: a small sketch carefully scribbled in the corner of every document or piece of paper around the house. This friendly drawing was a man with a hat smoking a cigarette.

I never asked him once who this man was or why he'd keep drawing that specific doodle; I thought there was always going to be time for such a trivial question. Until
    there wasn’t.

In the 12 years past his death, I found myself obsessively drawing similar doodles until I had created a population! Thousands of characters that didn't exist.

What was I trying to achieve?

A Doodle will make these characters alive on stage and having them accompany their creator, the artist Gasparina, through the heartbreaking process of dealing with that deafening silence left behind by death.

Will that silence ever be filled? Will the man with the hat ever surface from Gasparina's drawings to finally answer her?

Just like a vivid dream you enjoyed but were happy it was just a dream, A Doodle combines a deeply intimate yet universal story with live art; from sketches on a page to human-size sculptures.

"Beautiful project that touched me deeply when I watched it."
    Audience feedback
"This project should be seen by many people even outside the UK."
    Audience feedback
"Pomario’s delivery shines; she made me feel like I was hearing a very famous monologue for the first time."

"Our children live in the most deprived ward in London and their parents cannot afford to pay for the classes and activities many more privileged children enjoy after school and at the weekends. A free-to-access youth group run by a local theatre in a professional setting is an incredible opportunity."
