Camden Youth Theatre is free to attend and introduces young people who live or go to school in Camden, to the skills they need to make their own inventive new theatre.

Camden Youth Theatre works with top professional theatre-makers, creating new shows and performing at two of London’s best studio theatres: here at Camden People’s Theatre and New Diorama Theatre.

We have two groups that have rehearsals on Tuesday evenings during term-time, and are completely free to attend. Camden Youth Theatre was established in response to local demand for a creative club for young people.

Camden Youth Theatre is led by Lakeisha Lynch-Stevens, who has extensive experience working with young people. Lakeisha is a professional writer and theatre maker, currently the artistic associate of Beats & Elements. Lakeisha works with our local young residents to produce exciting and accessible theatre, the company work collaboratively to create performances that specifically showcase their views and voices.

CYT normally holds weekly rehearsals hosted at Old Diorama Arts Centre.

CYT recruits new members every term. Are you aged 13-19 and living or going to school in Camden? Are you interested in acting, writing, or making music? Then we're looking for you!

If you're interested in joining CYT in 2024, we are holding open taster sessions on Tuesdays 4th, 18th, or 25th June, 7pm–9pm, at Old Diorama Arts Centre.

To sign up to attend… or find out more, please contact cyt@cptheatre.co.uk to book your place.

Camden Youth Theatre are offering drama and theatre workshops FREE of charge to schools in Camden between 4th-20th June and 8th-11th July 2024.

This would be a 1-hour workshop of theatre and movement work - an opportunity to learn more about the CYT programme and try some creative tasks in a safe, pressure-free space, all whilst having fun! This could take place during school hours, in place of a drama or performing arts lesson, or after school.

Run by Camden People’s Theatre and New Diorama Theatre, CYT is a free weekly creative club for young people aged 13-19 and based in Camden, to build skills and confidence, and make new friends. To discuss booking a free workshop at your school, please contact CYT facilitator Shamira at cyt@cptheatre.co.uk.

Our mission is to support young and emerging artists making inventive new theatre – particularly about issues that matter to people right now. During this time, any donation – large or small – has a huge impact, helping to secure the future of CYT. Click on the page below to donate.
