Chris Boyd - Figures in the Landscape
FREE
Chris Boyd's paintings are concerned with humanity's relationship with nature. Figures are seen walking down lanes into a landscape, embedded deep in hedgerows or under trees, being born out of trunks or entwined with nature as green men.
His work is influenced by British neo-romantic artists, and more recently by Samuel Palmer's visionary Shoreham period, but with figures using modern technology replacing shepherds and farmers.
“I am concerned with the sense of place, whether real or imaginary, and have just spent 2 years in mid Wales reconnecting with the landscape. While our city and home lives now largely ignore the natural world, it has been magical to find timelessly beautiful landscapes hidden away just a short distance from our towns and cities.”
